Hello my dear best family,
This week was a super spiritual and uplifting week. I learned a good lesson on temptation this week. so that is what I am going to talk with you all about.
Temptation is interesting. the problem with temptation is that when we are tempted there is a part of us that says go do that, but another part of us that says are you actually going to do that? It is like having a shoulder angel and a shoulder devil. We ultimately have the last say at what we will do. Once we do what is wrong, we start to feel guilty, and feel like its too late. But that's not true. It is never too late. Jesus Christ performed the Atonement so that we could be changed and that we can feel peace. What can bring us even more peace is not doing it at all. Avoiding temptation versus resisting temptation can make a big difference. when we avoid temptation we see that we have strength and that we can do hard things. Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." I know that I too can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I know that as we use our gift of agency we can have great joy or great sorrow, but ultimately it is us that makes that decision. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that as I have followed Him, He has helped me and shown me the things that I should do. I have been able to do amazing things because of Him. I know that He lives and that He loves me. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
I invite you all to watch this talk by Elder Lynn G. Robbins by clicking the link here. (I actually found this one quite humorous).
Sister Lesue's last day on her mission
Elder Knudsen and I had another great talk with Barbara this week. She talked a lot about how things have been really hard at work and she's ready to quit. I talked with her about the power of loving other people. How at the end of the day if we can't do anything else the least we can do is to love.
We talked with Victoria this week. She got her baptism date canceled because of stress, and her mom does not want her rushing into it. So we told her that that was fine and we understand that everyone goes at their own pace. so we are basically following the spirit now as to what we should teach her because it is getting harder to coordinate with the locals. but we are doing what we can.
Sister Jean B. Bingham came to the Tuesday Night Devotional and these are some of the things that she said, "life is not easy, but it is absolutely worth it." And, "Your personal testimony will strengthen and carry you through hard times."
Thank you so much for all your letters and your support. I hope that you have a great rest of your weekend.
Love,
Elder Stevenson
