Happy Mother's Day!

Hello All,

Wow this week has been and interesting one. It is actually quite interesting emailing you today because I will just be calling you on Skype tomorrow.

Something I have noticed is how important faith is in everything that we do. No miracle ever happened in the Bible or in the Book of Mormon if the person didn't have faith. A good example of this is Alma 48:15-17 which says this:

15 And this was their faith, that by so doing God would prosper them in the land, or in other words, if they were faithful in keeping the commandments of God that he would prosper them in the land; yea, warn them to flee, or to prepare for war, according to their danger;

16 And also, that God would make it known unto them whither they should go to defend themselves against their enemies, and by so doing, the Lord would deliver them; and this was the faith of Moroni, and his heart did glory in it; not in the shedding of blood but in doing good, in preserving his people, yea, in keeping the commandments of God, yea, and resisting iniquity.

17 Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.

From this we see that our faith needs to be continually nourished so that it can grow. As our faith grows we grow. I know as I have been on my mission that I have seen my faith grow as I have learned to rely on the Savior. I have learned how much I need God and how much He is willing to help me. I know that as we all reach out to others in love we will feel the love of God in our own lives, and we will learn to love in a way that we didn't know we could. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Elder Neil L. Anderson of the Quorum of the twelve Apostles came to speak for Tuesday Night Devotional. He talked quite a bit about Personal Revelation. Elder Anderson gave us some steps as to how we can receive revelation. Here are the steps that He gave us:

  • Listen to The Spirit
  • Write down your thoughts
  • Record your feelings
  • Follow through with actions that you are prompted to take

We had a really good lesson with Victoria this week. What we did was we just read the Book of Mormon with her. It was simple but it really brought the spirit.

I love you all, and I can't wait to talk to you tomorrow.

love,

Elder Stevenson
