Savior, Redeemer of My Soul
Hello again,
This week went by really fast. It has been a blast being with Elder Meldrum. Something that I have been thinking a lot about this week is the words to the hymn "Savior, Redeemer of My Soul." I want you to think about it.
1. Savior, Redeemer of my soul,
Whose mighty hand hath made me whole,
Whose wondrous pow’r hath raised me up
And filled with sweet my bitter cup!
What tongue my gratitude can tell,
O gracious God of Israel.
2. Never can I repay thee, Lord,
But I can love thee. Thy pure word,
Hath it not been my one delight,
My joy by day, my dream by night?
Then let my lips proclaim it still,
And all my life reflect thy will.
3. O’errule mine acts to serve thine ends.
Change frowning foes to smiling friends.
Chasten my soul till I shall be
In perfect harmony with thee.
Make me more worthy of thy love,
And fit me for the life above.
This Hymn really touched me because it has reminded me of my experience as a missionary, and the person that I have become because of Jesus Christ. What does Jesus Christ mean to you? How has Jesus Christ made a difference in your life? As I ponder these types of questions it helps remind me of all the things that God and Jesus Christ have done for me, and gives me a desire to come closer to them. I would invite you all to ponder these questions and to seek help from them daily.
I know that Jesus Christ truly is the Savior and Redeemer of my soul. I have been guided, comforted, and been made whole as I have proclaimed the gospel and testified of Jesus Christ redeeming love. He can heal you, and He does for those that ask Him. I know that Jesus Christ lives, that He loves us, and He walks along side us as we go through this mortal journey that we are traveling. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Elder Meldrum and I taught a lot of new people this week. one of these people was Aaron. Aaron is from Hamburg Germany, but he travels a lot for work, so he was in Finland when we Skyped him. It was really cool to meet him. because it was my first time talking with him, I spent a lot of the time getting to know him better. He owns a worldwide IT company. It was really cool to see. His phone rang in the middle of the Skype call and He just started speaking fluent Japanese. So I know of three languages that Aaron speaks. They are English, German, and Japanese. For the rest of the time we talked about prophets and the scriptures.
Another person we talked to was Casey and we talked a lot about the Spirit and revelation. He was talking about how he heard a sermon about the spirit and has been studying it ever since. He believes very strongly that we need the holy Ghost to reveal things to us in order for it to be official. Which is good.
I hope that you all have a wonderful rest of your week.
Love,
Elder Stevenson
