Wow,
This week has been a really interesting week. It was my first week with Elder North and being with him has been absolutely amazing. He knows how to work hard when it is time to work hard and how to laugh when it is time to laugh. We have quite a bit of things in common, and that has been helpful in developing unity in our companionship.
As you can see from the title of the email, I just wanted to talk a little bit about music. I have been singing a lot of hymns lately and it is really helpful in turning a bad day into a good day. It helps keep me focused on the work and on Jesus Christ. Some of my favorites are "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief", "Lead Kindly Light", and "Nearer My God to Thee". Singing hymns is a great way to come closer to Jesus Christ. It may not seem like it but when you focus on the words of the songs you realize that hymns are really just the testimonies of others, which is why I feel it brings the spirit.
The little package the UPS guy gave us
I know that as we sing hymns we can feel closer to Jesus Christ and we can not only lift our spirits but lift the spirits of others as well. I know that Jesus Christ lives. He loves us, and He wants us to come back to Him. I know that Jesus Christ performed His Atonement completely out of love for us. I know that as we choose to become as He is, we will be able to go and live with God after this life. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Our district played "True Colors" and it was super fun! How you play is there is a question, such as who is the most likely to have a plane ticket in their hand and watch the plane fly away? Then everyone is represented by a color card and everyone puts who they think it would be. So it is fun to see what everyone said. After that we watched The Mailbox, which was interesting.

Church was super awesome today. In Elder's Quorum we talked about living in a way that reflects our belief in Jesus Christ. We had a discussion about why we don't put God's name on everything which really caused me to think. I just came to the conclusion that everyone has a relationship with with God and that may be very personal to them. I know that I love God and am so grateful for all that He has done. I want to share His word, but not to misuse it.
A craft Elder North and I made
During my personal study today I really learned about the love that Jesus Christ has for His children. I read from The Book Of Mormon in Mosiah chapter 26. Some scriptures that really stuck out to me were verses 22-23 which say:
22 For behold, this is my church; whosoever is baptized shall be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name; and him will I freely forgive.
23 For it is I that taketh upon me the sins of the world; for it is I that hath created them; and it is I that granteth unto him that believeth unto the end a place at my right hand.
This just shows how merciful Jesus Christ truly is. He is willing to forgive us our trespasses so it is with us. We need to forgive others their trespasses so that we can become more like Him.

Today has been pretty fantastic. It is my first day with Elder North and he is just awesome! We talked with Emma today which is one of Elder North's investigators that he brought over to the companionship. It went super well. We talked about what we should do when temptation arises. So we talked about prayer and singing hymns as well as reading scriptures. It went really well.

The Devotional tonight was super cool. Elder Legrand R. Curtis Jr. came and spoke to us. He talked a lot about the Book of Mormon. Probably the coolest thing that happened was Elder Curtis showed us a preview for the Book of Mormon videos. The first set of them which is the stories of Nephi and his family will come out on September of this year. I am super excited for it.

We went to the doctors for a check-up for Elder North. The appointment went well. They checked his blood sugar and had him do some paperwork. Then the doctor came and talked with him about how he needed to adjust his insulin for different times of the day such as meal times and when Elder North is asleep. After the appointment we were sitting outside of the clinic waiting for the MTC Shuttle to pick us up when a UPS truck pulls up. The UPS man comes out carrying a package and he says to us, "Happy Valentines Day Elders. I have something for you." He then hands us both a little box that looks like a UPS package. Inside the package was gum, but the box still looks pretty cool.

The Mission had Zone conference which is basically the equivalent of Mission Conference for missionaries who are out in the world. It was super good. We had a lesson on patterns, specifically the pattern of conversion. We see this pattern all over the scriptures. The pattern is first desire, then belief, action, trial, and witness. We see this as we look over the story of Joseph Smith with the things that happened leading up to the first vision.

Elder North and I talked with Josefine today. The lesson went super good. We talked about eternal marriage. We focused a lot on the family because something that Josefine really likes is children. She did read her patriarchal blessing and she said that she noticed a lot of promises made to her since we asked her to look for the promised blessings, so that was good to hear.

Joaquin's baptism was today and we were able to actually attend it, so that was just an amazing experience. It was mainly in Spanish but they did do part of it in English which was super cool to experience. Probably the most amazing thing about it was the Spirit that was there during the meeting and the ordinance.
I hope that everything goes well for all of you. I know that as we look to Christ He will help us. I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend.
Love,
Elder Stevenson
