Soup And Green Smoothies

Hello all,

This week has been a pretty interesting week. Probably a good lesson I learned this week was about the importance of being service minded even in the worst of situations. There is a scripture that really explains this concept. It's Mosiah 2:17 which says "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

When we learn to be service minded, we are truly serving God. Service brings the spirit and the spirit is key to everything relating to missionary work. I know that as I have served others and have done everything I can to serve God I have grown closer to Him, and I have grown happier. I know that we can all increase our testimony and our relationship with God as we serve others. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Today has pretty busy. We have been moving things around in the referral center to get prepared for the new missionaries that are coming in, and the new companionships that are being arranged. Since there are four new missionaries coming in there will not be enough room in The Referral Center for all of us so some companionships are moving to the new Referral Center room on the fourth floor.

I had quite the experience today. I woke up on the floor and I said “what happened.” Then I was told that I had a seizure. My mind was not 100% clear, but once I was told that, I noticed that I was out of breath. So I continued to lie down and rest. Elder Curtis gave me a blanket to rest my head on. I was really confused because all I could see was the carpet and so I thought I was at church. In my head I was thinking where do you get a blanket at church, and why is Elder Curtis here. So I asked where I was and I was told that I was in the referral center which confused me even more. It turns out that I had been talking to Elder Curtis and then I just stopped talking, fell to the floor and then had a seizure in Elder Curtis’s cubicle. Shortly after Elder Curtis gave me a blanket to use as a pillow I fell asleep.

Once I woke up the only person next to me was Elder Savoie. It turns out that everyone else had left for the Sunday Devotional. But it was okay because Elder Savoie went to commons (on the computer) and showed the live video of it. Kenneth Cope was the one that came, and he sang some songs, and bore his testimony which was really nice. It was also really nice just having Elder Savoie with me again and talking about the experiences we had together and the things that were going on currently.

Once the missionaries returned for doctrinal discussion I was given a wheelchair by President Thomas because I was having a bit of trouble walking. Anyway I was wheel-chaired down to the residence by president Thomas, and Elder Schwendiman and Elder Savoie came to accompany me. It was really nice because the new missionaries came tonight, but nobody had really moved out of their residence rooms, so Elder Schwendiman, Elder Savoie and President Thomas helped move my stuff over to my new room where I will be staying with Elder Meldrum.

Today has been an adventure. So I was told yesterday that I had bitten my tongue during my seizure, but I couldn’t feel it, so I didn’t look at it until this morning. It’s interesting. I also found out because of how my tongue is cut I am unable to eat solid foods, so I got signed up for the diet room. Elder Meldrum also suggested that we go to the nurse, so we went to the nurse and she suggested this numbing cream. We went the the B.Y.U Health center and they had it. So I have been using that as well and it has been helping a lot.

Elder Meldrum and I taught Tammy today. We got to talk about baptism and confirmation, which was really good. She told us that she had set a new baptismal date with her local missionaries. and she seemed really excited and really confident that this was the right one. The date is for September 30th.

We did some proselyting on the mormon.org chats and we found two people. One is from Croatia and the other is from San Diego.

The Devotional today was really good. Elder and Sister Clayton came. Elder Clayton said some really cool things like "repentance is by far the happiest word in the English language." He also talked about the Solar Eclipse that happened yesterday. he showed a picture of when the moon was entirely in front of the sun. The moon would not cover the sun because of its the sun's Corona. He compared this to Satan's influence in our lives, and the light of Christ that each of us have. Elder Clayton then said, "There is nothing that can cut out the light of Christ."

Wednesday 08/23/2017

We met with Leonardo today. He is awesome. Leonardo is from Croatia. Our lesson with him went really well. We talked about how God loves us and is looking out for us each and every day. We also talked about the great apostasy and Joseph Smith restoring Jesus Christ's Church and His gospel back onto the earth. We set a baptismal date for September 30th which he accepted. He had watched some videos on the internet which the information seemed accurate, but we asked him to start looking at things from lds.org and mormon.org, and he agreed to use those sites from now on.

Thursday 08/24/2017

We met with Melissa. She is from San Diego and is less active. She wants to come back to church, which is really good. We talked with her about the restoration and the Book of Mormon. We ended by inviting her to start reading the Book of Mormon again and she said she would do it.

Friday 08/25/2017

Today I was given another smoothie from the cafeteria, which was really good, because the cafeteria has slowly been trying to give me solid foods, but mostly it has been soup and green smoothies. They gave me mashed potato's yesterday, but I wasn't able to eat that.

We talked with Tammy again. We talked about keeping the Sabbath Day Holy. This was a good one to talk about because we talked about how the activities done on Sunday should be activities that bring your family closer together, but still carry reverence. So that was good.

I hope you all have a great rest of your week.

Love,

Elder Stevenson
